CERTIFICATE IN COMPUTER SKILLS (CCS)

Admission Regulations

For an enrolment to be confirmed the student must:
  • meet the minimum requirements for entry. These may be established by the Polytechnic, or prescribed by external authorities, and will be published to applicants in promotional material, application forms and course outlines or regulations;
  • provide complete, verified documentary evidence of their full legal name, age, residential status and gender;
  • provide an approved exemption certificate if they are studying at a secondary school, additionally provide an approved school exemption certificate from the Ministry of Education if they are under 17 years of age;
  • state their iwi affiliation if they identified themselves as New Zealand Maori;
  • provide accurate information about the last secondary school attended;
  • pay all fees before the commencement of their study;
  • comply with all relevant Aoraki Polytechnic policies and procedures.
Domestic Student Qualification

To qualify as a domestic student, and be entitled to the Government Tuition subsidy, you must be a citizen of New Zealand (including citizens from the Cook Islands, Tokelau, or Nuie who are studying in New Zealand) or a permanent resident of New Zealand or a citizen or permanent resident of Australia residing in New Zealand. You must provide evidence of identity and citizenship or permanent residency by providing one of the following:
  • A birth certificate, plus ID with place of birth stated as New Zealand, Cook Islands, Tokelau or Nuie
  • A New Zealand passport
  • Evidence of an Active NSI Number and either a driver's licence with a photograph or a credit card with a photograph.
  • A statement of Whakapapa, giving evidence of identity, date of birth and citizenship, countersigned by a kamatua
  • A Certificate of Citizenship or letter of confirmation from the New Zealand Immigration Service
  • An overseas passport with a current Permit and a current Returning Residents visa
If you have changed your name you will need a document such as a Marriage Certificate or Certificate of Deed Poll.

Either your original document must be presented at enrolment or you may choose to provide a certified copy. This means a photocopy of your original document, signed as being a true and accurate copy by a Justice of the Peace (JP), solicitor, school principal or other professional person e.g. doctor, priest, etc. You can find a list of Justices of the Peace in the yellow pages of the telephone book.

NZ Citizens may supply other evidence of their legal name, but they must still provide evidence of their citizenship

New Zealand permanent Residents must supply a passport with a current Resident's Permit or a Letter of Confirmation from the NZ Immigration Service.

If a permanent resident leaves New Zealand they need a valid returning resident visa.

A verified copy of a Whakapap statement is acceptable only when a birth certificate cannot be obtained

Both the learner and kaumatua must sign the Whakapapa as evidence of identity and citizenship

The student must be under 21 at the start of the study year

Passport must have current student visa permit to study with a specific Tertiary Education Organization

Work Visa or Permit

This must show variation to allow for study

Visitor's Permit

For foreign students enrolling for courses of 12 weeks or less

  2. Explain how to create text for a homepage.
  3. Describe how to add links from a home page to further web pages.
  4. Select procedures for enhancing the presentation of text on a web page.
  5. Outline the key principles of adding colour, images and other elements to a web page.

Withdrawal

If you consider withdrawing from the Certificate in Computer Skills programme you should first discuss this with your support person / tutor who may be able to help you think through the issues and possibly find a way to continue to successful completion of your study.
