Aoraki Polytechnic offers some free courses to New Zealand Citizens and Permanent Residents. If you are under 17 you are required to complete an exemption certificate which you can download here. Course Suitability Our courses are primarily designed for secondary school students and adults. They are extremely useful for anyone with a desire to improve their computing skills including: - parents wanting to up skill

Programme Structure - The Certificate in Computer Skills programme comprises 9 modules.
- The first two hours are spent in a classroom with a facilitator to get you started.
- Once you have completed the 2 hour classroom session you will be given password access for the following 36-months to continue your learning at home, the office or wherever you have access to an Internet linked computer.
- During the 36-month period you are welcome to return to the same class for a refresher.
- Individual courses will be expected to be completed in the calendar year in which you enrol in them, unless there are exceptional circumstances for this not occuring.
- It is important to note that the provision of this training is dependent on Aoraki Polytechnic continuing to receive government funding. If the funding is withdrawn you may be unable to complete the Certificate of Computer Skills.
What will you need? - A computer with Windows 2000 or higher.
- An Internet connection preferably 56k dial-up or better. Connections slower than 56k may be used, but performance will be slower.
- The software application you are learning. For example:
- Word Processing - Microsoft Word 2000
- Spreadsheets - Excel 2000
- Presentations - PowerPoint 2000
- Databases - Access 2000
- Desktop Publishing - Publisher 2000
